Ravensburger AG

What to do with the classic industrial zones of the 70s and 80s? Everyone knows and fears them. This is probably the most important topic in architecture right now: accepting and transforming the existing buildings and environment  in order to be sustainable. The company Ravensburger Spiele has taken up the challenge with Vitra. The first steps have been taken with the main building and the entire company industrial zone will also undergo a green transformation. In cooperation with Vitra, Ravensburger is focusing on the future, creating contemporary workplaces for its employees and ensuring the creative process for new games. I like the industrial charm with the new playful multi-space concept, where the employees were involved in the decision process. Ravensburg, Germany.

The green transformation of a industrial zone

"The international game company and publishing house Ravensburger contacted Vitra in order to modernise its ageing offices. Not only were they looking for advice and assistance in planning a contemporary New Work environment, but also desired products that fulfil Ravensburger's high standards in terms of design, quality, sustainability and timeless aesthetic. The aim was to promote corporate values, cooperation between different teams and communication, as well as to convey the company's identity through a unique Ravenburger working environment.

During the planning process, Vitra's Consulting & Planning Studio (CPS) partnered with the client to involve the employees in the project and generate enthusiasm for a new open office landscape. The outcome is a home-like, acoustically optimised environment whose targeted use of corporate colours has created a distinctive workplace in which Ravensburger's New Work strategy has been successfully brought to life.

In March 2024, Ravensburger was honoured with four 'Employer Branding Awards' at the Talent Attract conference for its initiative to involve employees in the decision-making process for the design and implementation of a multi-space concept from the outset.
